IBA-go作為后基因組時代表達克隆和蛋白質純化技術zui重要的供應商之一，德國IBA公司開發了一個稱為Strep-tag的通用技術平臺。這種快速、合算、多樣性地生產和使用重組蛋白的技術平臺是IBA與TU Munich的Arne Skerra博士教授密切合作開發而成。除了圍繞Strep-tag的大型產品組合外，IBA還*提供應用該技術的蛋白質生產定制服務。Strep-tag技術開發的原理是*的生物素（biotin）和抗生物素蛋白鏈菌素（streptavidin）之間的結合反應。為了將這種牢固的相互作用用于蛋白質純化用途，研究者們發現需要一個肽，該肽與重組蛋白質融合后，能夠結合在streptavidin的生物素結合口袋，從而作為純化tag。zui后研究者們成功設計出一個只由8個氨基酸（Trp-Ser-His-Pro-Gln-Phe-Glu-Lys）構成的短序列并稱之為Strep-tag II。為了優化結合屬性，streptavidin也被設計成為Strep-Tactin。如此，一對優化的結合伙伴被發現了：Strep-tag / Strep-Tactin系統現已成為zui被廣泛應用的親和層析系統之一。Strep-Tactin與多種不同的基質偶聯，使Strep-tag融合蛋白得以在生理條件下親和純化。與其他tag相比，這些溫和的純化參數能保存蛋白質的生物活性，并僅經一步層析后即可產出超過99%的純度。
